We’ve started to load onto this website copies of the Society’s first Journal, which ran in 38 issues from May 1961 to May 1981. And there were a couple of extras thrown in – No 40 celebrated the Society’s 40th anniversary in 1994, and No 50 the 50th anniversary in 2004. Please don’t go looking for number 39 – there wasn’t one!
Copies of most issues of The Rickmansworth Historian are available from the Three Rivers Museum, and all are in binders in the Rickmansworth and Croxley Green libraries. But for your further convenience, we’ll make them available here as well.
We’ve already indexed all the issues of The Rickmansworth Historian, and you can download the index from this link.
You can find the first issue here. Depending on your browser, you may find that you have to download it and then rotate the view, but it (and many of the issues that followed) are full of detail about the story of our area now otherwise forgotten. Some of the personal accounts here are of events in the early part of the last century, so really pretty authoritative first-hand accounts. Enjoy The Rickmansworth Historian!
